Adirondack Guides are available for hire and are invaluable companions on wilderness adventures. Whether fishing, hiking, paddling or bird watching, a guide can ensure you have a safe and extraordinary experience.
There are thousands of miles of hiking trails throughout the pristine wilderness of the Adirondacks, from gentle, level paths to precipitous, demanding ascents. The famed 125-mile Jackrabbit Trail passes right by the Lodge’s front door. We will be happy to provide you with a trail map or arrange for a guided hike.
The Lodge has mountain bikes for complimentary guest use. Many wonderful nearby hiking trails are appropriate for bike use as well. We can provide a map so you can take to the woods on wheels.
Emerald Springs Ranch in Saranac Lake offers trail rides throughout the year. Both English and Western mounts are available for riders of all abilities.
The granite faces of the ancient mountains are a dreamscape for avid climbers and have become a respected destination for climbers. Local guides provide instruction for ice and rock climbing trips throughout the year.
A ride down the scenic and challenging Hudson River offers the ultimate springtime thrill. A local company has been running the rapids for years and presents a truly exhilarating and unforgettable journey. Most rafting is available from March to June, and the guides will provide transportation, wet suites, lunch, and rapids from Class 3 to Class 5.
Enjoy a quiet dessert around our warm and vibrant campfire at the edge of Lake Placid.
Olympic Center and Museum
This is where “The Miracle on Ice” happened in 1980 when the United States Hockey Team were victorious over the Soviet Union, and then went on to win the gold medal. Today the center has four operational rinks for hockey, speed skating, and figure skating. Also inside the Olympic Center you will find the Olympic Museum, with displays of equipment from some of the world’s greatest athletes.
Olympic Bobsled Rides
Ride with a professional driver and brakeman down one of America’s only Olympic bobsled track in the summer and winter. Start at the half-mile and ride the famous Zigzag turn. Please see Guest Services for times and schedules.
Take the 8 passenger Cloudsplitter Gondola from the base to the top of Little Whiteface. This fifteen-minute ride to 3,676 feet overlooks the Ausable River and Adirondack High Peaks. An observation deck awaits you at the top.
