Let’s Get Cooking! The Lake Placid Lodge is excited to welcome you to learn to cook with Chef Nathan Rich and Sous Chef Sarah Steffan in our new teaching kitchen. Discover the secrets of how the Lodge makes everything delicious! Master kitchen basics, new grilling techniques, and see for yourself how the chefs make all the sweets so sweet. All skill levels, from the cereal-burners to the soufflé-masters, will have a grand time learning to cook at the Lake Placid Lodge Teaching Kitchen.
The Teaching Kitchen is led by Executive Chef Nathan Rich. Chef Rich joined the lodge in late 2010 from Asana at the Mandarin Oriental in Boston. He and his seasoned team will oversee the kitchen and cooking classes.
The Lodge offers a la carte classes, culinary weekend programs, cooking series classes and a weeklong “Master Class” with Chef Rich.
On the Menu….
Group Cooking Demonstrations-Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00pm ($95 per person or $125 with Sommelier paired wines) Class size ranges from tw0 to twelve guests. Classes are customizable, and typically take 90 minutes.
Private Cooking Classes ($250 per person-up to 2 guests-includes Lake Placid Lodge aprons and Sommelier paired wines)
Hands on cooking class, one on one with the Chef.

Includes: classes with executive chef and sous/pastry chef, chef’s knives, chef’s apron, and three course menu with wine paired by Sommelier, as well as recipes. Maximum class size is twelve, with four seats reserved for guests staying at LPL, classes begin at 11 AM.
One-on-One Master Class with Chef Nathan Rich (For one person $5,500; for two people $6,500)
Spend the week with Chef Rich. Work in the Lodge kitchen alongside the kitchen team. The week’s schedule will include all aspects of the kitchen operation, time working on the line during service with Chef Rich. From product selection, through menu design to plating, guests are afforded the opportunity to experience firsthand what it is to work in a top kitchen. Embroidered chef’s coat, knives, apron, lunch daily and recipes included. Master class scheduled based on availability and require thirty day notice.
*Off property guests are welcome to all classes: 50% deposit due upon booking. Classes are completely refundable if cancelled more than 24 hours in advance.
